What. A. Day. I knew we were going to be busy, but I didn't really think that all the way through.

We started with an opening season soccer game...

Followed that up with the closing game of basketball season...it was a barn-burner, y'all - we won!

Took time out for a delicious lunch with Nana and Papa Jack...

And then we had the rest of the games of the day...all the games...all the day.

And now we are home, clean, curled up on the couch watching "Bad Hair Day" (don't judge me - the mom from "Good Luck Charlie" is in it - Amy Duncan!), waiting for our Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls to bake, and I seriously can't wait to crawl into my cozy bed.

What a perfectly busy day - watching my girls do what they love, catching up with their grandparents, and visiting with some of my favorite mom friends.

Life is good!

Game face and mental preparation are both very important for any athlete. However, did you know that proper fingernail composition is just as important? When your nails match your jersey, nothing could possibly go wrong!

First game of Spring Soccer for Cee tomorrow at 9, and last game of Basketball Season for Jay at 10...Go Fusion! Go Thunder!

It's all fun and games until, halfway through a GoToMeeting conference, you realize that you accidentally left the 'y' off of your name.

Woops.

Love lost...thanks to open doors, careless candy, and a curious puppy.

Jump Rope season is nearly done. Today, the 4th and 5th grade teams performed for a local elementary school. I love watching them do their thing!

Way to go, Little Jay!

Trust me on this one:

My kitchen was immaculately clean on Sunday.

My kitchen was also immaculately clean on Monday morning.

It was even immaculately clean when we got home from work Monday afternoon.

And then the girls asked if we could play Chopped.

"Sure," I said.

Famous last words.

It's only 6:20 on Monday evening, and now my kitchen looks like a war zone.

Positively reproachable.

Le sigh...

Jimmy Falon. JT. Steve Martin. Chris Farley. Paul McCartney. Chris Rock. I can't even contain myself five(ish) minutes in!

This makes turning 40 entirely worth it. Seriously.

What a great day! I had the opportunity to present a new strategy to teachers in Ft. Bend ISD. One of my favorite challenges is presenting to new audiences, and today was my second time to go into a building where I'd never been  before to present to people I didn't know. The first time I did this, I was not a fan of it at all. Today was the complete opposite - I survived, and I loved it!

After that, I got to catch up with Whitney (the one in the middle...circa 2007?) and her adorable family.

Her daughter, five-year-old Blake (who speaks like a grad student), had me laughing the entire time I was there. So good to catch up...fuel for my soul. I'm definitely ready for another girls' weekend with these ladies (and Carrie)...

Cee is so much like her dad - their motto is "the more, the merrier...life is a party!"

Therefore, she is making her Valentines for all of her closest 30 friends. :)

I love the differences in Cee and Jay...

The same is true with money. Cee would rather buy as many smaller things as she can, and Jay would rather save up and buy a couple of bigger things.

Have I ever mentioned how lucky I am to be their mom?

She is in hog heaven. Writing + Giving = Such a Win-Win for her.

Of course she made one for each person in her class, but she also wanted to give special gifts to 3 of her favorite friends. She's so much like me: a handful of very close friends.

I try not to post food very often, but this salad was too good to resist!

If only I could eat this every single day for the rest of my life...

Most of the time, it's the little things that mean the most.

Whew, what a weekend! Soccer season has officially commenced, and the girls played a tournament in College Station. This was Cee's team's first time to play "up" in preparation for next year, and they definitely held their own, all things considered.

During our down time, we managed to shop a bit. I'm super proud of J's purchase.

Imagine the things you could do with this straw and a bottle of wine...

We haven't been through Bastrop in almost a year. It has been 3.5 years since the awful, destructive fire, and I am completely humbled by how the trees still look today.

The recovery of this area will take a really long time - up to a full "tree" generation. I'm generally pretty green, but I always surprise myself when I see the charred trunks of these trees year after year. It truly takes my breath away. If you want to learn more about the process, here's an interesting article.

And now, we are preparing to spend the evening vegging in front of the tube watching the Grammy's.

Hope your weekend was fabulous.

Peace...

After the last few days, I really need to remind myself of these...especially the second one:
"Don't take anything personally."

Soccer practice soon, and then some snuggle time with my girls. And that will make everything better!

It's only Tuesday, and I'm worn out! My middle schooler, I swear, never stops practicing. Whether it's homework, skills practice, soccer, or band, she pushes herself. Always. Band isn't our favorite right now, and we cannot wait to try something new next year. I just admire her for still pushing herself even though she knows it isn't really her cup of tea.

Jay and her jump rope team had their 3rd performance tonight, and I couldn't be more proud of them! I love that several of her best friends are on the team with her, and I love getting to watch them jump together!

Just like Cee's team when they were in 4th grade, their favorite part is taking a huge group bow at the end - a much deserved one.

Love those happy smiles, and love that Cee hangs in the back to help wrap the ropes after each performance.

Peace.

Happy double digits to the most amazing 10 year old around! The thing she looks most forward to each birthday morning is seeing what Punxsutawney Phil is up to...

The thing I look most forward to is watching her eat cupcakes for breakfast. Okay, fine. I'm more excited about cupcakes for breakfast than they are.

I am so thankful to be her mom - she truly makes this world a brighter place!

Happy birthday, little Jay bird. Love you to the moon.

And back.

Peace...

We all have a slumber party hangover.

We are tired.

We are cranky.

We really are not used to staying up past 10:30 pm.

Last night we surpassed the norm by three or four hours, but after midnight, who's really counting?

I've napped, they've vegged, and now it's back to reality:
we have school tomorrow.

Love her diligence...

We still have dinner to make, 30 cupcakes to bake and frost, and an entire Super Bowl to take in. Will we make it til the end?

Only time will tell.

Peace...
