my classroom has become 'my favorite pair of shoes'. a student has become 'the cat'. when said student gets angry, said student reacts like a cat who has been neglected and retaliates by pooping in owner's shoes (a.k.a. my classroom, in case you were not following my metaphor).
gross.
why me?
stop the madness.
i don't get paid enough for this.
this is why i do not teach kindergarten.
and please, God, bless all the kindergarten teachers in the whole wide world.
like many things that happen in my life, i swear i could not make this stuff up.
yay, fun.

food for thought

my mom came over to spend the weekend with us, and let me tell you - it has been so nice to have her here!! cee and i have been a bit under the weather, so my mom and jay cooked dinner for us last night: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and sauteed veggies. and cornbread. dee-li-shush! comfort food to the hilt.
now, normally the girls will not eat any of the aforementioned items when i cook them. i have all my mom's recipes. i don't even substitute 'this' for 'that' with hers. my girls wolfed their food down like there was no tomorrow! i was very proud, and i realized that when you are a little kid, grandmas can do no wrong. and when you are 34, moms can't do much wrong either.
happy memorial day to everyone!!

atch

again, in the car today - again, going to lunch (i love going out to eat on the weekends)....
cee: knock knock.
jay: who's there? (giggling already because she **loves** knock knock jokes)
cee: atch. (giggling because it's contagious)
jay: atch who?
cee: bless you!
jay: gesundheit!
cee: gracias.
jay: day nodda (with a heavy texas twang on the pronunciation).
giggles deluxe - from me this time - who knew my kids were bilingual? :)

clouds
cee was talking to her nana on the phone today while we were driving to lunch. i wasn't really paying attention until i keyed in on the following:
"hey nana, what do clouds wear under their clothes?"
my ears perked up. my heart raced. she was telling *my* all time favorite riddle!! pride.
the answer?
thunderwear. :)
yay!!!
she pulled it off flawlessly. i laughed. she laughed. i don't know if nana laughed.

c.t.w.p.
i am so excited - i was accepted into the central texas writing project! i have my first meeting today...all day. i don't know what to expect...lots of writing? lots of talking? lots of get to know you stuff? a painless combination of all the above? i am not good at those games where you have to say three things about yourself and one is a lie and they have to guess the lie. so i hope it is not that. wish me luck, it's gonna be a super fruity day!

dignified
this is my friend midas. isn't he pretty? midas belongs to my friend whitney, and we are pretty sure that browning and midas would be best friends if only they could meet. don't you think he is cute? whit is pregnant, so we are going to blame the doggie dress up on her hormones...and pray that she's having a girl!! if she has a boy, then he might be predisposed to favor the color pink. and tulle.
